Сoat of arms of YaroslavlYaroslavl is one of the oldest cities of Russia, founded in 1010 and reached its prosperity in the 17th century. In 2010, the city had celebrated its Millennium. Yaroslavl is the birthplace of the first Russian professional theatre and home to the first woman- cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova.
Yaroslavl, with population of 600 thousand, is the largest city in the Upper Volga region and the capital of the Golden ring of Russia. Tourism is an important economic sector of the city. Serious impetus to the development of tourism was gained when in 2005 the historic center of the city was included in the list of world heritage of UNESCO. There are about 30 hotels, you can find big four-star and three-star, and small cozy private hotels. The role of business tourism is gradually increasing, business forums and other events of national and international nature are held.
The city is located at the intersection of important roads, railways and waterways. The city has two railway stations - Yaroslavl-Main and Yaroslavl-Moscow.
Having the status of international airport, Tunoshna is able to receive aircraft of various types. Tunoshna has regular flights of air taxi to Moscow and St. Petersburg.
There is a river station, receiving the river cruise ships which are making a stop in the city, as well as providing regular trips of "Meteor" and river buses up and down the Volga.
Yaroslavl – is the venue of international festivals, among which the oldest Russian jazz festival "Jazz above the Volga", festival of arts "Transformation", the Volkov theatre festival, festival of student and academic choirs "Freckle", idea’s festival "Architecture movement”, with the aim of searching directions and concepts for the development of the city, the rock-festival "Dobrofest".
